Bridgman, MI, October 16, 2014 - Progress Software Corporation announced B&L Information Systems as the winner of their 2014 Software as a Service (SaaS) Excellence Award. Now in its 13th year, the Progress Global Partner Awards recognize partners across 15+ categories using one or more of Progress' core solutions for application development and deployment, including Pacific, OpenEdge, Rollbase, and Corticon. Awards were given out during a special ceremony marking the official start of Progress Exchange 2014, taking place in Orlando, Florida the week of October 6th. The SaaS Excellence Award honors Progress' partners whose participation in SaaS enablement programs has resulted in highly innovative offerings that achieve impressive commercial success within their markets.
"The entire team at B&L is extremely honored to be selected for Progress Software's SaaS Excellence Award," noted Philip Laney, President and CEO of B&L Information Systems. "B&L entered this cloud-based SaaS world in 2009. All of our new sales are now SaaS. More and more business people are understanding and accepting how advantageous cloud-based software is in running their business. They don't want the hassle and expense of maintaining a complex IT infrastructure and staff to support their business software needs."
More than generic accounting or manufacturing software, the Odyssey SaaS system meets the special needs of foundries, die casters, investment casters, machine shops and related operations. Odyssey SaaS is based on the Progress' OpenEdge application development platform, an unbreakable technology platform that has been powering over 47,000 businesses for more than 30 years. By focusing on factors such as performance, cost, reliability, scalability, flexibility and ease of maintenance, Progress enables B&L Information Systems to focus its efforts on functionality, trends and industry best practices. Odyssey SaaS addresses the need many metalcasters face - a need for industry-specific, ERP software with a low capital outlay.
B&L Information Systems is no stranger to change. Founded in 1976 by Richard (Dick) Laney and a partner as a software company developing management information systems for manufacturers, the company is now in its second generation of management and fourth generation of software. From custom-designed per client software through the AS-400 manufacturing server-based, BLIS product to a Windows-based ERP system, Odyssey, B&L has steadily increased information integration from the shop floor to the office while growing into a staff of 34 employees supporting the use of B&L technology in over 400 metalcasting firms worldwide. Poised for growth in the cloud-based architecture of the evolving software field, B&L will continue to be the leader in metalcasting ERP for years to come.
