Bridgman, MI, September 29, 2014 - B&L Information Systems, the leader in ERP software for foundries and die casters, is pleased to announce two recent client acquisitions for their OdysseyTM SaaS ERP product: OSCO Industries, Inc., a gray iron foundry specializing in green sand and shell molding; and Chicago White Metal Castings, Inc., a leading supplier of high precision, aluminum, magnesium and zinc die casting products and services.
Ohio-based OSCO Industries, Inc. consists of three ISO 9000 casting plants. The major markets served are air conditioning and refrigeration, automotive, power transmission equipment, pumps and valves. Originally incorporated in 1872 as the Ohio Stove Company, the company was organized as a foundry to cast stove parts and assembled a quality line of heating and cooking stoves. In 1942, the current ownership expanded into the commercial casting field. The Ohio Stove Company changed its name to OSCO Industries, Inc., on its 100th anniversary, in 1972. OSCO became a B&L client in the 1990s, using BLIS software in their Purchasing and Finance departments. After years of using other systems, OSCO is now in a position to capitalize on the advantage of using a comprehensive, single ERP system - Odyssey SaaS - specialized for their industry across all three plants.
A client of B&L's legacy BLIS software, Chicago White Metal Castings, Inc. is a leading supplier of high precision, aluminum, magnesium and zinc die casting products and services. CWM produces value-added die cast solutions for a global market. Chicago White Metal Casting Ornamental and Mechanical Products started as a die casting company on October 17, 1937 by Walter G. Treiber, and Samuel Gullo. In the 1940s, CWM purchased their first die casting machine. Walter Treiber Jr., current Chairman, joined the company in 1959. During the 1970s, CWM moved in to a new, 76,500 square foot state-of-the-art facility in the current location of Bensenville, Illinois to handle increased die casting demand. CWM is the first North American die caster to have its environmental policies and procedures earn ISO 14001 Certification. Converting from B&L's BLIS software to Odyssey SaaS will allow CWM to integrate islands of information, especially on their shop floor, into an efficient stream of data for greater productivity.
B&L's Odyssey software will give both businesses the ability to collect, manage and analyze business information. The holistic integration of the Odyssey ERP software system and metalcasting business process, combined with the scalability of the B&L Cloud, helps companies on the cloud/SaaS model realize significant benefits across their organizations, including: lower total cost of ownership, increased operational accuracy and efficiency, and the ability to focus resources back on the business of metalcasting.
"We are delighted both OSCO Industries and Chicago White Metal have chosen Odyssey as their ERP system," stated Patrick McCrevan of B&L. "Companies have to be able to depend on their software systems continuing to adapt and respond with the business climate. If there are new requirements associated with a changing business climate or environment, those changes will be occurring in Odyssey as B&L continues to focus on the needs of our metalcasting clients."
The ERP implementation process will start with a company-specific "kick-off" meeting with B&L's Professional Services team, where each company will map out the planned project phases, including: business review, file conversion and training. Both OSCO Industries, Inc. and Chicago White Metal Casting, Inc. are expected to "go live" with Odyssey SaaS in 2015.
