Meet Bryan, Lead Software Engineer
From a Resume Drop to Lead Engineer
By AJ Jennings, featuring Bryan Green
"I had to take action. As soon as B&L called me back, I knew I had to go for it.”
Bryan Green’s career at B&L Information Systems began with the tenacity of dropping off a resume. His journey from that old-school initiative to becoming a Lead Software Engineer is a perfect example of how B&L fosters professional growth built on hard work and dedication.
How he grew:
Bryan started as an intern at B&L right out of school. He quickly saw B&L was different than what he expected from an employer, offering a supportive environment where he could take ownership.
"I was given the opportunity to take ownership of a big project—writing most of the code for the web Data Explorer."
He self-taught himself the Progress code mostly on his own. That trust, self-discipline, and initiative led him to the opportunity to author most of the code for the web Data Explorer, a core piece of the Odyssey ERP platform.
What he's proud of now:
"I enjoy being in a position of support... I'm able to use my problem-solving skills to help my fellow developers and build impactful features for our customers."
With 14 years at B&L, Bryan is a source of institutional knowledge and a mentor for the newest generation of developers at B&L. Bryan's work directly impacts customers, most notably on the Profile Manager feature of Odyssey, which enables clients to customize and save how they view their critical data.
He’s proud to be a key player in a small, mighty company with a big footprint in the metalcasting industry.
A surprising fun fact:
"I've been involved in community work for years, and lately, I've really gotten into building the Gundam models."
When he’s not coding, Bryan volunteers with a local fraternity focused on charitable community work. His passion for building intricate, snap-together Gundam models is a creative outlet that perfectly sharpens his analytical mind.
